![]() The Valiant saw operational service against Egypt in 1956. It was also hastily withdrawn after 10 years operational service because of fatigue problems that became evident when the role was switched from high to low altitude (as the Vulcan and Victor took on the high altitude role) - the main wing spar failed whilst a Valiant was in flight, but it got back to base. The Valiant didn't have the aesthetic beauty of its Vulcan and Victor stable-mates, so it's the lesser known V-bomber. ![]() Daniel's original description is as follows: The Valiant was the first V bomber in service and the first out of service!
